Computer Training
A wide selection of computer courses are offered in the Learning Resource Centre at the Central Library. A complete listing of current computer courses is included in our newsletter, What's New @ St. Catharines Public Library.
Internet Access
The St. Catharines Public Library offers free access to the internet at each branch. Internet access is limited to 1 hour per day for adults, 30 minutes for children under 12. For more information regarding our internet use policy and wireless access, click here
Electronic Resources
The St. Catharines Public Library also offers access to over 50 online databases, providing full-text articles contained in magazines, newspapers and reference resources; photographs and maps. To see a full range of electronic products, click here.
Word Processing
All public internet computers have OpenOffice word processing software installed. The Central branch also has 3 word processing computers with Microsoft Office 2000 installed. Monochrome print-outs are .20 per page. Colour print-outs are .50 per page.
Wireless Internet
The St. Catharines Public Library offers FREE wireless Internet access to patrons with wireless devices, such as laptop computers, netbooks and wifi-enabled smartphones. Coverage extends throughout the first and second floors, as well as the meeting rooms and atrium of the Central Library. We support both 802.11b (11 Mbps) and 802.11g (54 Mbps) standards. Access is also now available at all Grantham, Merritt and Port Dalhousie branches.
- Sessions will be automatically logged out after 10 minutes of inactivity
- Coverage extends throughout the first and second floor of the library, as well as the meeting rooms
- Access to internal library resources, such as printers, is not available at this time
