Welland Canal Fallen Workers
The building of the Welland Ship Canal was a massive undertaking. It took more than 20 years to build and exacted a large toll in human life, as 137 men were killed in the construction work. Please join us as Kathleen Powell, Supervisor of Historical Services and Curator of the St. Catharines Museum and Welland Canals Centre, discusses the Welland Canal Fallen Workers with a particular focus on those who were also veterans of the Great War. Her presentation will also highlight the Welland Canal Fallen Workers Memorial project which is expected to be unveiled in 2017.
