Dr. Alex Christie
We seem to be spending more and more time in imaginary worlds: whether in virtual reality, on social media, or even chasing after Pokémon. Why do we find ourselves increasingly sucked into imaginary versions of the present, be they virtual reality games or news bubbles? Moving from 3D maps of twentieth-century literature to the fabricated realities of twenty-first century media, Dr. Alex Christie will discuss the rise of imaginary worlds and their tendency to spill over into the real world.
