Myths and Magic of the Night Sky

Tuesday, January 10, 2017
7:00PM -

Where: Central Library, Mills Room
Contact: 905-688-6103 ext 211

Ancient people believed the stars represented myths and gods, but in today’s fast-paced world, too few people take a moment to look up into the sky. In the coming months, starry nights will display the entire gamut of the galaxy. From stellar birth to geriatric stars about to explode, the sky will reveal such wonders as ancient kings and queens, a hero and princess, and even monsters. Winter months are here, with shorter days and longer nights—what better time to begin your understanding of the night sky? Join Dr. Brian Pihack, past president of the Niagara Centre of Astronomy, as he provides an extraordinary tour of the night sky.
