2019 Youth Photography Contest Rules
Colour Your World
The 2019 Teen Photography Contest invites teens from St. Catharines or the surrounding Niagara area between the ages of 9-17 to submit photos via the social media app Instagram or via email.

The contest will feature 5 weekly challenges and will run from Sunday September 29 to Saturday November 2, 2019. The weekly challenges are as follows:

Sunday, October 13 – Saturday, October 19

Celebrate Library Month

Sunday, October 20 – Saturday, October 26

Sunday, October 27 – Saturday, November 2

Halloween Havoc

Participants are allowed to submit up to 2 photos per weekly challenge, for a maximum of 10 photos over the span of the contest. Entries must be submitted by 12 midnight EST each of the Saturday deadlines.

Instagram entries must be tagged with #scplphotocontest in order to be entered into the contest. Please note that users with private Instagram accounts will need to “direct message” the Library (@stcatharineslibrary) to follow the private account and view the tagged entries. If you do not have an Instagram account, you are invited to submit digital photos to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. (with your name & age) in order to be considered for the contest. Digital photos should not exceed 10 MB in file size.

Photos must be your own work – the Library will not accept photos that infringe on another person’s rights including copyright. Photos that include people, including selfies, will not be considered for judging.

Library use of entries:
By entering your work, you acknowledge that the St. Catharines Public Library has the right to use, reproduce, or display entry materials for promotional or any other purposes. This includes displays in the Library as well as being featured on the Library’s website and social media pages.

Members and/or designates of the Library’s Youth Services Committee will serve as judges for the contest. Prizes will be awarded for the following categories:
•    One grand prize for Best Overall Photograph
•    One prize for 2nd place
•    One prize for 3rd place
Judging will take place in November and winners will be notified by November 30, 2019.
