There are many software developers that offer software absolutely free. Some developers require that you use it only for personal use (non-commercial), while others offer versions that are feature-limited or expire after 30 days.
Please note that some free software comes bundled with additional software that can contain adware. It is always advisable to read the license agreement before installing any software.
