Antivirus Software
Protect your computer against the threat of viruses, worms and trojan horses.
Remember, anti-virus software only works if you keep your virus definitions up-to-date. Most anti-virus software has the capability to update the definitions automatically. It is recommended that you set your anti-virus software to update definitions DAILY.
There are a number of very good anti-virus software packages on the market (Norton, McAfee, eTrust, Kaspersky, Trend Micro, to name a few), all of which are highly recommended. However, there are a few software developers that provide anti-virus software for FREE personal use.
Some recommended FREE anti-virus software packages are:
- AVG Anti-virus
- AntiVir Personal Edition
- Avast Home Edition
- F-Prot (30-day free trial for Windows; DOS & Linux are free for home use)
- eTrust EZ Armor Security Suite from Computer Associates (Antivirus & Firewall) (NEW! Free 1 year subscription)
You can also scan your computer for FREE using online services:
- Symantec Security Check (Scan only)
- HouseCall by Trend Micro (Scan & clean)
